How your information will be used

The registry uses the information you give to process your application, to publish the notice of marriage required by law, and to issue your certificate. Your names and photographs appear on the public notice; your address, contact details and identification number do not.

Your identification number is encrypted before it is stored, and registry staff see only its last four characters unless they have a specific reason to view it — which is recorded.
